Melanie was born in France to an upper middle-class family. Her parents where born and raised there. When she was three years old, her family moved to England so her father could start a new job there. She never really got much attention as a young child, her parents where always busy with their jobs. To make up for being so detached from their child, Melanie’s parents lavished her with material things. This made her very spoiled as a child.
When Melanie found out that she had magical abilities, her mother was overjoyed. Her father, however, was less than thrilled. He was just hoping to have a “normal” family without a magical child. He strongly opposed her going to the Arcane school.
Soon after Melanie started going to the Arcane school of magic, her parents got a divorce. Her mother moved back to France to further her career as a fashion designer and is now one of the more well-known designers in Paris. Melanie hardly ever talks to her father anymore. She is still very close to her mother, and she will do anything to make Melanie happy.
